Have you ever seen a wall that looks like worn linen, tree bark, leather, or reptile skin? Master painter, Carl Green, is constantly creating one of a kind, new, and innovative custom finishes. He is skilled in all faux finish techniques including color washes, drags, Venetian Plaster, Lusterstone, suede, denim, stencils, marble, old world plaster, stone finish, and wood graining. He specializes in texture, polished plaster, and specialized custom finishes. Carl has over 27 years experience, creating and inventing faux styles.

Carl Green was raised on the south coast of England. He began his faux painting career in 1978, apprenticing with his father, a well known and accomplished English faux painter. Together, they traveled throughout England decorating hotels, restaurants and nightclubs with highly specialized custom faux finishes.

Ten years later, Carl had the opportunity to move to Nantucket Island, Massachusetts where he continued to perfect his craft. Carl’s work can be found in many of the exclusive summer homes that make Nantucket famous. In 1996, he married Shannon Keene who had been working in the design industry on the island. Together, they started FX Painting & Decorating working for the island’s high end clientele through decorators and interior designers.

In 2004, Carl & Shannon opened Unique, their retail store and faux finish showroom, in Prospect New Town just outside of Boulder in Longmont, Colorado. Their current showroom is located in Highlands Square in Northwest Denver since 2006.
